Look closely enough at any claim and it becomes a room.

This page has no motion here because scripts are off. With them on: scrolling, pressing +/−, or clicking a highlighted word zooms the view into the focused sentence — the sentence itself dissolves into the paragraph it was standing in front of, four levels deep, until it reaches a line the page will not open any further. What follows is that whole structure laid out flat, top to bottom, instead of entered one room at a time.

Level 1 — the argument

A claim is a compressed room: what reads as one line is a paragraph folded shut, and what reads as a paragraph is a system folded shut behind that. Three things do the folding — compression, the discipline of saying less than is true; threshold, the point where reading stops and entering starts; and recursion, the fact that the fold can happen again, one level further in, inside whatever you just opened.

Level 2 — compression

Compression is not omission by accident — it is omission by design, the choice to leave a shape's interior unstated so the shape can travel. What looks thin from outside is density from inside: everything true about the room, held in the smallest sentence that could still be trusted to open it.

Level 3 — the unsaid

What compression leaves out is not missing — it is the part of the room the sentence trusted you to bring yourself. Below this, the page has nothing further to unfold. It only has what you already know, standing next to what it said.

Level 3 — load

A dense sentence carries weight it never displays. This is where the weight sits — not stated, only felt, the way a foundation is felt through the floor above it and never itself walked on. Below this, the page refuses to go lower, because there is nothing under a foundation but ground.

Level 2 — threshold

A threshold is the instant a sentence stops being read and starts being entered — the outside sentence scaling up and past you while the inside one rises to meet you. That instant is a crossfade, not a cut, because nothing here jumps; and once it happens it is a commitment, because a room, once entered, has changed what the sentence outside it meant.

Level 3 — the seam

Somewhere every crossfade has a seam — the line where outside stopped and inside started, visible only if you look for it instead of through it. Whether you arrived here by threshold or by echo, it is the same seam. Below it there is no further inside; the page refuses to manufacture one.

Level 3 — the point of no return

Once entered, a room cannot be unentered — you can back out, but you now know what was inside, and the sentence outside is smaller for it. That is the whole cost of reading closely. Below this claim the page has already spent what it had to spend, and refuses to spend further.

Level 2 — recursion

Recursion means the same operation applies to its own output: the paragraph you just opened contains sentences dense enough to open again. It is not a loop, which returns you to where you started; it is an echo, which repeats the shape at a smaller scale; and it does not continue forever — somewhere under it is ground, the level that does not repeat because nothing is folded into it.

Level 3 — not a loop

A loop returns you to where you started, having spent motion to arrive nowhere new. This is not that — each pass in was smaller and truer than the last, which is why it can stop. It stops here. Below this, the page refuses, because refusing is what tells you the loop was never a loop.

Level 3 — the seam

Level 3 — ground

Ground is not the deepest room — it is the thing the rooms stand on, which is why it cannot itself be entered. It is a condition, not a rung: everything above assumed it without naming it. Below this, the page refuses — not because it ran out of things to say, but because refusal, here, is the honest answer.
